A
Workbook of English Grammar
Katharine Watson
£10.00
Spiral bound.
149pp, 30 x 21cm.
A complete course in English grammar, created with the aim
not only of making grammar easy to understand and assimilate,
but also of rendering the process enjoyable and fun. The information
has been set out systematically in a helpful and logical order.
Each topic is carefully and simply explained with the help
of clear examples, and each stage is followed up with practical
exercises and suggested class activities. The rules of punctuation
are explained at intervals throughout the book.
The course is designed to take between three and four years,
assuming a start at age 10 or 11, and coinciding with the
Key Stage 3 period of education. Although the book is intended
for classroom use, it is designed in such a way that it can
also be used by adults or children as a 'teach yourself' manual.
Grammar has had a bad press in recent years, but once you
begin to understand the underlying structure of language,
and to be able to put that understanding into practice in
your own thinking and writing, respect for grammar as the
expression of universal laws begins to seem natural.
